USS PROVIDENCE IN NAPLES, ITALY CIRCA 1945

The pier is the Italian cruiser Muzio Attendolo which was sunk in Naples harbor in 1942 b the USAAF. A
catwalk and some bits were welded to the hull of the capsized ship and it was used as a pier.

Muzio Attendolo was was a Condottieri class light cruiser of the Italian Regia Marina which fought in WWII.
She was sunk by bombers of the USAAF on December 1942, although salvaged after the war, she was
damaged beyond repair and was scrapped.
