Storm in San Diego - Wednesday December 27, 2006
Greetings to All:
Here are a few photos from my attempted sailing adventure in
San Diego Bay. Linda and I felt it woud be a good day for sailing
therefore we drove down to the Harbor Island Yacht Club and checked
out a 32' Catalina. As we were doing this, the wind continued to build
up to small craft warnings and possible gale winds on the way.
As we boarded the boat, we received warnings from the club house and
from the Coast Guard on the marine radio. It was becoming to dangerous
to go out to sea or even in the bay. Reports were starting to come in of boats
in distress....small boats going aground....boat anchors slipping and boats
drifting from their anchorage. We were getting wind gusts of 45mph and there
were reported winds of over 80 mph up the coast and heavier winds off
Point Conception.
An so our adventure continued safely tied up to the slip in the Marina.
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas Holiday. We want to wish everyone
a Happy New Year of 2007.
Back to my nap,
