Providence sailors,

I had the pleasure of meeting Warrant Officer Suter and his lovely wife on his visit to San Diego. Suter is probably one of the last active duty sailors left that served aboard Providence. Suter was 17 years old when he joined the Navy and Providence was his first ship. Captain McWethy was the CO during his time aboard Providence. He plans to retire in a few years.
